Common Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita ) Gransanger ~ Mosquitero Común ~ Gransångare 2024-09-15 Kalvebod Fælled, Denmark Pinseskoven. As a sort of follow-up to my spring study of deviating chiffchaff sounds. There have been many fast rising calls during the last month from local birds and birds moving south. I admit I haven't put a detailed ear to all of them, being focused mostly on dragonflies, but still I've tried to pay attention. One of theories about the deviant calls is that they belong to juveniles. I decided to record this one because it reminded me a lot of the special recordings I made in May. Sharp and linear without the normal chiffchaff sound. But looking at the spectrogram it is obvious that it doesn't look like the deviating sounds, but more like a normal chiffchaff, though perhaps not completely. But perhaps it's a normal presentation of a juvenile calling on its way south in the autumn? I didn't see the bird more than a short glimpse. Also: Female chitterchatter. |
