Campamento YAAX´CHE en Calakmul Camping facilities in the middle of the jungle along the road toward the ruins. Reservations can be made via booking.com and other portals. Or phone: +52 044 983 134 8818. No website anymore.
Hotel Puerta Calakmul Fully equipped cabins with a good restaurant service. This is the closest you can stay to the Calakmul ruins in a comfortable manner. It is rather expensive, but saves you the 50 kilometers drive from Xpujil in the morning, and in the evening too...
JALISCO
Rancho Primavera Website appears dead, Sep 2024. Lies south of Puerto Vallarta close to the village El Tuito. Cabins and guest houses. The guest houses are normally rented for minimum 3 nights and will have breakfast included. The 3 cabins (fully equipped houses. Really!) are rented without food service and the two larger ones only for at least two nights. The smaller one per night.
NAYARIT
Casa Roxanna Bungalows in the southern part of the town center. Quiet neighborhood and modest prices. A good choice.
Garza Canela Good hotel in San Blas. Big but rather expensive. Really good restaurant, El Delfín. The standard choice of much birding tours.
QUINTANA ROO
Hotel Turquesa Maya Probably the best hotel in town with middle low prices. Is located nicely away from the town center, thus more quiet in the night. Breakfast included normally, if you have time to wait for it before heading to Vigía chico road...
SINALOA
Hotel Posada del Hidalgo, El Fuerte More expensive than hotel Río Vista and without the river view. But they have many hummingbirds visiting their feeders. It is posible to go there to have breakfast and photograf these charming angle birds.
Hotel Río Vista, El Fuerte Birder friendly hotel with a spectacular view toward the river and good birding right from the terrace in the morning. One of the owners is working as a bird guide as well, arranging trips to the river and surrounding areas.
Tufted Jay Reserve No website. Cabins in the middle of the reserve. Different sizes (pt. 4-bed cabin 1300 Pesos/night, 2-bed cabin 900 pesos/night). Limited access to electricity for charging devices, but good mobile signal in open areas. Hot water for shower, but no refrigerator. Close to village El Palmito, where you find a very limited selection of eating places. So it will be nothing fancy, but you won't starve to death. Contact Santos (Spanish only): +52 669 218 35 67 (casa) or 694 116 19 89 (mobile). He works as guide as well, if you would like to hire him. Can be an advantage the first time you're there. Is paid separately.
VERACRUZ
La Mancha, Veracruz - ecoturism Ecological camp with activities like bicycling, kayaking, mangrove trips and swimming. Beautiful lushful surroundings. Worth it both for the common tourist and the serious birder.
YUCATÁN
Hotel Punta Ponto No website anymore. Simple hotel on the water front. Few rooms it appears, and you have to pay with cash. A basic breakfast is included. Mexican Sheartails at the hummingbird feeders, and they can provide a boat to do the ría (estuary). 1500 pesos, January 2020, for a birding boat trip of duration 3-4 hours.
Hotel San Felipe de Jesús No website. Good little hotel in San Felipe. Rooms 8, 9 and 10 with topfloor balcony and view of the ocean. No web site but contact here: hotelsf@hotmail.com or hotelsfjesus@hotmail.com.
Hotel Villa de Pescadores Nice middle priced hotel lying right on the seafront. Mexican Sheartails at the feeders.

arter.dk Another effort to make a national portal to harbor all observations of flora and fauna in Denmark. I'm not sure why, but probably because of egos and conflicts with the owners of naturbasen.dk which used to be the main nature portal at a national level. It's new, 2022, and time will tell whether it will really take over from naturbasen or not. People still use naturbasen at a large scale, but since they obviously have problems maintaining the technology, it is probably a question of time before arter.dk will be the new central to use.
dofbasen.dk Public resource run by Birdlife Denmark (DOF - Dansk Ornitologisk Forening). The de facto place where people enter observations of birds in Denmark. Everyone can get an account and it is free.
naturbasen.dk Public, and semi-official, portal where to report observations of flora and fauna in Denmark. This is the portal that people de facto use for all categories except for birds (here dofbasen.dk is the best resource). Supports photos but no other media types. Everyone can get an account and it is free. However, the functionality of the website is very basic, and not really up-to-date with simple user requirements such as being able to search through data, except for 'scrolling' per day until you get reach your target. And it is very slow. Often requests get lost and you have to start over by making a refresh, F5.

Catalogue of Life "The Catalogue of Life is an assembly of expert-based global species checklists with the aim to build a comprehensive catalogue of all known species of organisms on Earth. Continuous progress is made towards completion, but for now, it probably includes just over 80% of the world's known species. The Catalogue of Life estimates 2.3M extant species on the planet recognised by taxonomists at present time. This means that for many groups it continues to be deficient, and users may notice that many species are still missing from the Catalogue."
