The list is presented in taxonomical (phylogenetic concept) order by the families. Within the families the species are sorted alphabetically (scientific name). However, as of July 2026 subfamilies are being introduced to the official list. This means that the species within a given family are now ordered first by the subfamily name and then alphabetically as before. The subfamily names are not implemented in the present list for now, why you should observe the resetting of the alphabetical sequence to understand that a new subfamily has taken over. Where available common names will be added poco a poco. Click on the family name to see associated species, and click on the name in the genus line to see a description of the genus (if any present). The number at the end of the distribution range of each family is for internal use. |
