Presenting the World Odonata List (maintained by odonatacentral.org). Implemented version 2025-06-25: 6456 species in total (3338 zygoptera, 3 anisozygoptera and 3115 anisoptera). Check out changes per year here. The list presents the families ordered by a phylogenic concept (related species), but within each family the species are sorted alphabetically by the scientific name. Where possible common names will be added poco a poco. In the official list the 'family' Incertae sedis Zygoptera is positioned after the family Rimanellidae (Tepui Damsel). I guess, because that is the expected position of the species involved. But I've decided to put it at the end of the Zygopteras for consistency reasons. Click on the family name to see associated species. |
