Endemic status
Comment 2026-10-01: This species has replaced Tikal Spreadwing (Lestes tikalus) in Mexico and C America - tikalus being a synonym of scalaris.
The species range in Mexico according to PugetSound seems way off compared to what has been registered in naturalista.mx and IUCN still has it as a Caribbean species, why I can only conclude a complete lack of clarification concerning these two taxa. Hopefully more will come.
2026-10-18: Added to Campeche, Mexico (link).
