Species with split potential
A compilation of species from the Mexican list with split potential (a work in progress).

Since the ebird/Clements taxonomy is largely based on the work of the AOS, the American Ornithological Society, relevant split potentials will mainly be based on the recommendations made by the two committees, NACC and SACC, that maintain the species lists and handle taxonomic issues for the American continents.

However, the list maintained by IOC, a committee under the International Ornithologist Union, often is quicker at implementing new splits that later will be accepted by most other leading taxonomies, including ebird/Clements, why I find it relevant to include these splits, relevant to Mexico, in this compilation as well.

Also included in the list are the relevant split proposals under NACC and SACC that have already been rejected, providing a historical perspective on the matter.
