Forest and bog that used to be used for peat cutting, but for many years now have been protected and manually maintained (grass-cutting by hand for example). 60 hectares.
INTERESTS:
A wide variety of rare bog loving plants can be found here. Also the two special daytime butterflies Lesser Marbled Fritillary (Brenthis ino) [Engperlemorsommerfugl] and False Heath Fritillary (Melitaea diamina)[Mørk Pletvinge] fly here. The latter after being re-introduced with individuals from Scania, Sweden.
ACCESS (free 24/7):
The area is mainly accessible by foot but at least the eastern-most trail might be passable on bike. Arriving by car you have to enter the area from the village Kollerød and pass below Highway 16. There is a small spot for parking just as you enter the forest along Vejs Ende (100 meters after a sharp left turn out in the open by a house).
