Description:
Modernized in 2005 the area is an artificial beach environment originally from 1933. Consisting of lagoons and several beaches with dune-like parts on the inner side. Good water quality and swimming opportunities.
INTERESTS:
Water activities in general, including wind- and kite-surfing in the lagoons.
Wildlife is so so. Winter birds like Goldeneyes and Red-breasted Mergansers like to use the lagoons, when not chased away by surfers. Also in winter the beach and pier at Bunker 3 can be good for Rock Pipits and Purple Sandpipers. During migrantion you can find Brants roosting along the beach in small numbers. In good summers when the park fills with picknicers you might find some of the interesting food-searching gulls like Caspian and Yellow-legged Gulls. A single Kittiwake once stayed briefly among the many Black-headed gulls that sometimes roost at the northern end of the area.
In 2025 a new lake has been created to attract more wildlife. It appears to be deep enough to become permanent, but time will show what comes out of it. Dragonflies hopefully!

By bike or foot. You can reach the parking lots via Lagunebroen, or you can park along Amager Strandvej. Busses and metro close by.
