Pygmy Cormorant (Microcarbo pygmaeus ) Dværgskarv ~ Cormorán Pigmeo ~ Dvärgskarv 2024-06-14 Slotsmosen (Slangerup), Denmark Found by a local on June 5, but probably the same bird was already seen further NE on Sjælland on May 28. It therefore became an almost new species for the country, just beaten by 4 days by a bird seen in Sønderjylland by Ole Zoltan Gøller on May 24. The present bird is very likely the same as a bird that has been roaming on the Swedish side of Øresund, and perhaps even the same bird as a first for Skåne found on April 26 on the south coast at Hörte between Trelleborg and Ystad. On June 7 and 8 it was on the Swedish coast, and returned to Slotsmosen on the 9th, and has very likely been on the Danish side until the 17th [reported as 0 on the 18th]. As can be seen it was roosting far out in the middle of the lake, when I visited, leaving no chances of good footage. It did a single foraging dive and returned to the same perch, where I left it to continue my tour into the magic world of butterflies and dragonflies..! Rare |
