White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla ) Same bird: 181 Havørn ~ Pigargo Europeo ~ Havsörn 2024-03-17 Kalvebod Fælled, Denmark
Adult. New nest. Worryingly close to public access, and people do. Approach as close as possible to glare, just like on tv...let's hope they have adapted and know that only those working with the matter are dangerous to eagles! |

Adult. Ellevehøjvej. Call. From the nest calling a mate that I couldn't see? Also: chiffchaff, willow warbler, graylag goose |

Adult. Hejresøen. Good News! Came from the east with a garfish [hornfisk] in the talons. It headed directly to the nest, why they must have a live young to rear, despite my negative predictions. So perhaps the chick (s?) hatched a good week ago, and both adults are feeding it, since I haven't been able to see any on the nest for a while. But with the growing foliage, of course I can't exclude that one of the adults are sitting close by all the time watching. With crows, ravens, gulls and herons around in multitudes, that's what I would do! As can be seen in photo 2, the bird is solidly banded. And what the open bill is for, I'm not sure. It wasn't calling, so perhaps the relatively warm weather that we suddenly experienced today was causing it to heat up. Less likely is it that it is gasping for air burdened by the weight of the fish, since it easily took height to reach the correct landing approach to the nest. Banded |
