Adult. A large hummingbird with a very characteristic gurgling voice. You can almost see how the sounds are bubbling out of its mouth. Yucatán 2013.

Subspecies: excellens (Long-tailed)
Presumable female on the nest. Found by local guide, who didn't know it was there. But we went there exactly to look for this species, why I think we should consider ourselves lucky to get it. The nest is placed above a creek and the cliff protrudes further up, giving good shelter against the rain.
