The female is supposed to have larger pale markings above than the male and more round forewing, but I'm not sure how reliable these characters are except in the extreme cases.

Identifying to sex from my photos has proved to be a challenge. Size of pale spots on the forewing and the shape of the forewing, I find contradictory when looking at photos even on reliable sources like www.lepiforum.org and danske-natur.dk, especially when adding in the shape of the body.
