Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus ) Same bird: 30 Sort Ibis ~ Ibis Cara Oscura ~ Bronsibis 2022-05-16 Kalvebod Fælled, Denmark
Villahøj. With mild winds blowing up from the south the birds are coming too. This breeding plumaged bird was discovered in the morning, but disappeared shortly after, only to be found again at the same spot in the afternoon. The water level right now is excellent for all sorts of waterbirds. Emotional it was too, to position myself to be able to take these photos, at the bottom of Villahøj, at the western end of the hillock. Last time I did it, it was to photograph two Black-tailed Godwits that were foraging close by. When I was finished and turned around a young woman was waiting and wanted to talk. Over the next month I got to know her better, and I fell in love with her. But for inexplicable reasons my feelings were not returned, and a few days ago I lost my patience, and decided not to see her again, even though we did have wonderful times together on outings in the region. So, standing here again today, it was very a sad moment for me, and my regrets couldn't have been better expressed symbolically than by this black bird, that was foraging - at a distance and completely ignoring me... It's called the crying game, though there were no tears this time, only a deep worrying concern that there is something very wrong with the way I try to be a part of the real world, where men and women interact and like to be together. Will I be there too, one day!? Rare |

Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus ) Same bird: 30 Sort Ibis ~ Ibis Cara Oscura ~ Bronsibis 2022-05-21 Kalvebod Fælled, Denmark
Second calendar year. Villahøj. Continuing. Not sure, but I would like to see it as a young bird with very worn outer rectrices and many remiges as well. Seems to have accepted the place without feeling disturbed by people passing by. Eagerly foraging all three times I've seen it. And probably another southern species that in the years to come will be more frequent and probably even will start breeding in Denmark, and why not here..!? Rare |
