Subspecies: yucatanensis 2 cy male. First identified as Orange Oriole because I had a picture of a similar bird from same place showing yelloworange back. But this bird has a bill that can only belong to an Altamira. Also the shape of the black facial mask and the blue-gray spot on the mandible are good indications. The young birds do not have black back, therefore this is not at very good character for identification. Perhaps the color tones differ between species, but I need more experience to say anything about that. |

Subspecies: yucatanensis Adult. The orange wedge on the wing characteristic as well as the deep orange color. The latter mostly seen on eastern individuals, in Yucatán. |
