2019-05-14 Laguna Cuyutlán (col), Mexico
Subspecies: pectoralis Two adults, pictures 14-17 is number two bird. If not seen well, it can resemble an Altamira Oriole with the orange wedge on the wing. But Altamira is rare in this part of Mexico and also shows more white in the wing. Streak-backed also sometimes shows an orange wedge in the wing, but is normally easily separated by the streaked back and plenty of white in the wing too. The birds didn't make any sounds, and were sitting leisurely in the tree, before my presence had them fly away in direction of Los Reyes. My first in Colima. |
