Subspecies: dickeyae Female. Same as 1207. A bit difficult to appreciate the field marks in this picture. The bill doesn't seem decurved, probably because of the angle, but the tertials seem unmarked and the breast unstreaked. |

Subspecies: dickeyae Male. Probably same as 1205, though the angle and the technical quality make the two birds appear very differently. |

Subspecies: dickeyae Female. Also a worn bird with traces of wing bars. See other female pictures. The curved culmen is not that obvious here, but the uniform breast is a good indication of the species. |

Subspecies: dickeyae Female. Discolored bill. Same comments as to 1200. Here the tips to the greater coverts create a rather marked wing band. This is normally not a feature of this species, and probably should be related to the very worn plumage. See 1202 where the uniform tertials are shown very clearly, indicating that it is a Varied Bunting. |

Subspecies: dickeyae Female. Very much like female Indigo Bunting. but the general impression is of a bird with more uniform plumage, no streaking on breast and weak pattern on tertials. The culmen is more curved than that of Indigo Bunting. Also: Indigo Bunting is only a winter visitor in the area, so is not that likely to find one on this date. |

Subspecies: dickeyae Female. Only other realistic alternative is Indigo Bunting, whereof most have gone north already. However it has a more streaked breast. The dark color could also indicate a female Blue Bunting, but it has a stronger bill and a more elongated shape. |

Expect it to be a female of this species, just with a tainted area around the bill - perhaps pollen. Was foraging alone along the road in the afternoon. Aberrant |
