Subspecies: baritula Adult male. Unmistakable when seen well, with the combination of color and the hooked bill tip. It's a species I've had difficulties with. It was therefore a big surprise to find it here, in my local hills. It is known from the volcanoes, but I've never had much success with it there either. This bird sang, as you can hear, and chased another bird, which most likely was a female. The song reminds me of The European Serin - to have a memorable reference at hand. |
