Subspecies: monedula Adult. Adult with the bright eye. New balcony species. Tempted by recently started sparrow feeding, but was unable to do anything constructive since the food is hanging in free air in a coconut shell. Vinkelhuse |

Subspecies: ? Adult. A candidate for an eastern bird, subspecies soemmerringii? Probably not, but is certainly standing out among the jackdaws we see here on Amager. Søren Haaning Nielsen has made a compilation of mostly eastern photos in an attempt to reach a conclusion about how to identify a soemmerringii in Western Europe. https://www.netfugl.dk/artikler/2508/halsbaandsallike-mulig-eller-umulig Well-marked whitish neck-patch, blackish breast and back with no contrast to the wing, paler side of head and neck than monedula birds, no contrast between the throat and the dark breast. All of this, often being referred to as the clues to the id of an eastern bird. But the material is not conclusive since many birds photographed in the western part of the range of soemmerringii, show characters very similar to monedula birds. More details in the article, but only in Danish. Compared to the named characters this bird is probably too pale and mottled on the breast and back to qualify as an alleged soemmerringii. |

A selection of 3 or 4 birds to show the tone of gray of the breast and back. This as a reference to when the real eastern bird shows up. Checkout 4286 to see what I mean. |

Adult. Several birds present in the open grass field. Two kept together as if they were a pair, but I'm not sure I have photos here of both of them. The one looked toward the left might the other one. References for future discussions about subspecies origin. Different than 4388. |

Adult. Several birds present in the open grass field. These two kept together as if they were a pair. Both are rather dark on the body whereas only one of them has a well-marked whitish neck patch. Is the darker one, that seems bigger, the male perhaps. References for future discussions about subspecies origin. Different than 4389. |

Adult. Kirstinehøj. Peculiar behavior facing toward the concrete block in this intense way. The open bill is surely a cooling technique but is the open wings rather a delousing technique 'burning out' the feather bugs. |
