Adult. The sea at sydtårnet. A rare summer visitor, arrived a few days ago. But with an injured left wing it has lost the ability to fly. Some have claimed to see it fly but I'm not sure of that, though of course it must have arrived somehow, which could be flying rather than swimming. Apparently it forages without problems, and it will be interesting to see for how long it can manage this crippled lifestyle. |

Adult. The sea at sydtårnet. The wing problem forced it to stay here all through the summer. Foraging well. But I'm not sure if that's any relief knowing that there will be no chances of a full recovery and a full life ahead as a healthy Horned Grebe..! |

Adult. ♂ and ♀. Grønjordssøen. Even more unusual that a number two bird showed up! And that the first bird now has been present for two weeks. But these are the facts, and apparently they are courting each other, expecting them to male and female then. Unless the raised position is also used to simply greet a conspecific creature of either sex. They are still present on the 25th. Update: Apparently disappeared on April 30th, while two birds showed up at Utterslev Mose, that very likely were these two. Too much disturbance and in general an unsuited lake for breeding, I would guess. Rare |
