Subspecies: robustus Adult with young. We had the species at three different places. The other two only heard. The adult bird is unmistakable with the dark plumage, tightly-placed horns and whitish spot on the forhead. |

Subspecies: lambi Wasn't aware of this bird in the field, but only after hearing the recording of a calling Northern Pygmy-Owl. Could be something else, but it sounds exactly like a single hoot from a Stygian, so I take the chance and call it that. The habitat is very suited as well with tall pines and oaks. |
