West Mexican Euphonia (Euphonia godmani) Finches, Euphonias and Allies (Fringillidae)
~ Västmexikansk Eufonia
Hide text
Used to be a subspecies of Scrub Euphonia (Euphonia affinis), but now flying on its own, being the only euphonia in west central Mexico.
The white undertail coverts of the male always made it different from the other Scrub Euphonias, but very similar to White-vented Euphonia, rare in Mexico, and perhaps only separated by distribution? |

♂. The male of this species has white undertail coverts, and reminds a lot of the White-vented Euphonia just south of Mexico. The other subspecies have yellow undertail in combination with the black throat. |
