Adult. Well-known locality for the species. The bird started calling by itself in the large trees inside the camp. When provoking it with playback, it sounded like the exact same bird in the recording, which is very likely to be true since it was made at the same locality. I don't have much experience with Barred Owls, but comparing with photos online it does look like the name, Cinereous, grayish, is well-chosen. This bird looks very cold gray compared to the northern counterpart. |
