Third calendar year. Looks like it is not in a completely adult stage, the inner primaries seeming soft-colored and perhaps some upperwing coverts as well. |

Juvenile. The white tips to the primaries are difficult to perceive from this flying angle, but obvious on the perched bird. Like that, there are no confusion species in the area, the young Gray-hooded showing a more 'normal' juvenile hand, all brownish. I'm not sure if the molted outer secondary is normally seen at this date. Here with Franklin's Gulls and South American Terns. |
