Subspecies: ?
Adults. Typical crane silhouette. Difficult to say if these belong to the group: Lesser (canadensis) or Greater (tabida/rowani). This is easiest to judge when the two are seen together.
Subspecies: tabida/rowani (Greater)
Adult. The brown spots on the wing are stains of rust created by soil that the birds apply to the plumage with the intention to create a camouflage effect.
Subspecies: Lesser and Greater
3 adult Greater and 6 Lesser in the background. The one most to the left is a young bird without red on the head. When seen together it is rather easy to distinguish between Greater and Lesser.
