Subspecies: ignicapilla Adult. Unmistakable when you get to see it well. Discovered by sound, also singing. Responded eagerly to playback. Poor digi-photos through binoculars. One of the Central European species that have become more common in Denmark during recent years. Climate changes a reasonable cause... Digiscoped |

Subspecies: ignicapilla Adult bird, assuming. Handheld binoculars digi-photoed. Bad quality of course, but you can still use the photos to sense what to look for when you find your own bird overhead in the dense foliage, not knowing if it is this species or a Goldcrest. Firecrest is much more elongated, think also longer bill. Second bird of the day. Seen well. Digiscoped |

Subspecies: ignicapilla Ndr. Dragørvej x Ndr. Strandvej. Two birds present, on passage. A lot of orange in the yellow crown stripe indicates a male, which this bird might be then. |

Subspecies: [ignicapilla] My fourth bird this spring on Amager. Found it at the bottom of the new dike along the forest edge north of the northeast department. I call the forest here Nordskoven. Didn't get as good looks of this one as the others but still managed to get these photos after provoking it with playback. |

Subspecies: ignicapilla Adult. My third observation in the forest this spring. This one I found in the old orchard south of the southwest department, now a well-grown mixed forest. It didn't say anything, and I found it by its sheer presence while foraging alone in an open conifer patch. |

KLSV Found it by sound - singing. It then responded vigorously to playback circling the recorder continuously, but only allowing for a good view briefly when taking this photo. It stayed 5-10 meters up in a mixed patch. After having playbacked for while it started to call with a different call than I've heard before, zhi zhi zhi... in a series with a rather nasal quality to the notes, as if it was building up frustration or aggressiveness toward to invisible intruder. I stopped it there, and left the bird. |

♂. KLsv - the horse trail, at the s-bend. This one reacted equally vigorously to playback as the other two I've found this year. Interesting to see that the red color of the center crown is most intense from behind. Has a tick behind the left eye. |

♂. Was singing and responded mildly to playback, but only for a short while. It looked like another bird showed up too, which could have been the female? Saw it 100 meters east of Collin-stenen along the main road in the eastern part. This being the forth place I've had the species in the forest this year - though I'm not sure if some of the observations refer to the same bird. They might move about until they decide for a territory to breed in. |

♂. KLsv. The mild weather made it reasonable to go looking for this species. I spotted it spontaneously and then tried to attract it by sound. It responded at first with eager approach and a single song, but then found out I was a teaser, and moved on foraging low. |
