Subspecies: riparia Juveniles in frish plumage: Scaly back and bright on head of one individual and more diffuse breast band than seen in adults. Notice the shape of the dark breast band, lower border straight and horizontal, which separates this species from bright juvenile Barn Swallows. Tail pattern and shape are also different the two species in between. |

Subspecies: riparia Different birds. Unmistakable in area with the brownish gray plumage and well-marked breast band. At least photo 4 and 5 show a juvenile bird with the scalloped upper side and broad white edges to the tertials. |
