The species is widely introduced in North America (United States, Mexico, the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Puerto Rico), the Canary Islands, in Europe, and in Israel; source of most introduced populations is nominate monachus, but, at least in North America, some also originated from subspecies cotorra
