Imago. Male & Female. Vandhullet. Egg-laying. I had seem them flying around earlier, but lost them. Then after a while, I could hear the wing-rustle, but it took a long time before I was able to spot them. Almost levelled out with the dry grass, and also: The male was struggling to get both of them free, but the female was trapped under a single straw of grass, and as long as he resisted of letting her go, nothing would happen. He finally did, when I came too close with the Cycloptical Canon Eye. The female stayed put for a while, as if trying to get a hold of herself before flying away or after the male, why I could easily grab her, and get the photos seen in 3374. After I put her down, she took off, and the male was instantly over her again. Obviously they weren't finished, and later I flushed them again, but this time now only as a mating wheel. They flew far away this time when that happened... |
