Comment | A rather common plant in ponds in our area. It looks superficially like Water-soldier [Krebseklo] but emerges from the water in a single point and has longer leaves but without the thorny edges - has instead a wrinkled appearance in parts of the leaves. Should be emitting a pleasant fragrance, for which the plant has been used back to the Ancient Egyptians, but I haven't been able to confirm this yet. It probably has to come from the flowers, and since they often stand in water it is difficult to approach close enough. | ||||||||||||
