Imago. I guess for most, including me, many of these micro moths are extremely difficult to identify, but one thing to notice here compared to the long-snouted veneers (halvmøl) I normally see in grassy areas, is that the snout is short. And the overall pattern of the wing goes well with this species, though wing-pattern often is variable and not so straigh forward to rely on as field guides might suggest. I use the Inaturalist app to have a species name suggested, and then go from there via other resources. I think it worked well in this occasion. When I saw it, when flushed, it looked smaller than the veneers and that is indeed the case when checking the resources. So, with several not to say many hours browsing through grassy fields, eventually you even get the ability to spot the micro minor sized species among the micro sized species. A good visual exercise I'm sure. |
