Sex, Age, Comment | Adults. Likely a pair. These two are unmistakable in the area since the only other large dark-backed gull - Yellow-footed Gull - has yellow legs and normally shows a more powerful tip to the bill. The choice of subspecies is based on the expectancy that birds in Mexico are of the southern subspecies which are darker on the back than the northern ones. These two look rather dark backed but of course it is difficult to say when there is nothing to compare with, and I can't remember the observation in details. | ||||||||||||
