Sex, Age, Comment | Adult male with all black tail. At first glance this bird looks like one from the northern subspecies, microstictus, which moves a bit southward in winter. Local birds of the subspecies pustulatus have broader black streaks on the back and no reddish tones to the plumage. The yellowish basic color of this bird with a touch of reddish in the head could be a sign of an intergrade between the two subspecies, which is known to happen. | ||||||||||||
