Sex, Age, Comment | Probably 1cy bird, determined by the worn and rather pointed tail feathers, which are presented on another photo of the same bird. The fresh fringes to the the head feather make the the dark lateral stripes appear diffuse. A very short-legged species that almost looks like a mouse when foraging on the ground. This individual was extremely trusting, allowing that one approaches until 1-2 meters. Has stayed in the area for at least a week from this day. A rare but yearly species in Denmark. With the reddish cheeks and the diminutive size the species is pretty much unmistakable. Generally a species where sex and age are rather alike, and where the winter expression is paler due to fresh bright fringes to the new feathers. The eye of the young bird is supposed to be grayish black as opposed to the red brown eye of the adult. Here the eye looks grayish black thus supporting the young bird perception. | ||||||||||||
