The flat-crowned individual was on site taken for a Wood Lark, but photos reveal it as what must be a worn Eurasian Skylark. Comparing it with the more normally looking skylark in picture 1 and 4, the mistake should be understandable. Furthermore, the bird looked much smaller as it moved about with a hunch-backed attitude. A Wood Lark would show shorter tail and the typical black and white pattern at the wing bend; also the bill should be more slender. |
