♀. Ellevehøjvej. Call. This bird was calling in a strange way, that caught my attention; probably aided by the many deviating chiffchaffs that I'm working on these days. The flimsy call, is not something I've heard before, and it took a while before I got a hold of the bird, understanding that it was the female of a willow pair that was whimsying about collecting nest material. The male was there too; the one singing close by on the recording. A few normal hu-it calls, hockey-stick-shaped, are thrown in, most clearly at 33 sec and 44.5 sec. Otherwise it uses the other call characterized by a short descend, a long steep ascend, a medium descend, and at times ending in a very short ascend. Though I haven't heard this before, I don't expect it to be uncommon. It is more likely me who haven't paid attention to such a detail before now. Irrelevant passages have been removed from the recording. Also: willow warbler, common chiffchaff. |
