♀. Is or is not - a young male or a female. How often do you look at your common birds? I probably not so much since I was in doubt whether a female could show this much yellow in the bill and such a strong yellow orbital ring. But they can! Even show an entirely yellow bill. And probably a young male would have started to show a few black body feathers here and there. But had I taken the time to look at my later photos of the species, I would have known right away, 1737 looking very similar. OLD. The bird was sitting in the same bush as 5752, the male, did when I was here a few weeks ago. A local pair paying tribute to H.C. Andersen who is lying right next to. |
