Enigmatic species that comes and goes in mysterious ways. Unmistakable in this part of the country. This bird had been coming for some days to the feeder. I spent most of the day waiting for it to come in, which it did perhaps every half hour, and sometimes only for a short glimpse when chased away by a Cinnamon Hummingbird! But a few times during the day it insisted, and stayed long enough to allow me these photos. In picture 2 with female Broad-Billed Hummingbird, in picture 20 and 21 with Plain-capped Starthroat, in picture 23 with Plain-capped Starthroat and Violet-crowned Hummingbird. Likely same bird as 3056. |
