Sex, Age, Comment | Adult male. Unmistakable and an incredible bird. The species is a real rarity in this part of Mexico, and it was a big surprise when it showed up in Chris Lloyd's garden last autumn. Apparently it liked the spot, because it stayed all winter long. When it finally left with the coming of the spring, I guess nobody was expecting to see it show up again the next year, now during these days. But perhaps the bird is disposed to migrant in a wrongly southwestern direction down across Mexico, and now per memory it comes back to a proven good winter locality. Thanks to Chris for showing it! Even a lifer for me! And my Jalisco species number 406, putting me on a shared first place on the ebird top 100 list for the state. A wonderful delayed birthday present! | ||||||||||||
