Sex, Age, Comment | Adult male. Unmistakable. Gambel's Quail male does not have scaly breast and has a darker brown belly patch. It also has a more bright red crown and black front. Mountain Quail among other things has broad white flank streaks and no black in the head, and also should be found at higher elevations - not close to sea level. | ||||||||||||
