Flashy yellow color attracted my attention to this sawfly. A first. Apparently there are many similar looking species but in this area the one with the all yellow legs is most likely this species, why it is now here, and swush swush we move on...

A large bee swarm made aware of itself by an intens buzzing from the top of the birches close to the hives. Several thousands.
Swarming it happening when the hives get crowded and it is time to create new families elsewhere. The hive boxes this year are new, and have been moved 10-20 meters to give way to the new dirt road passing through the area. I would expect the swarming behavior to be something that happens every year, and hasn't been caused by the new boxes. There are more of them this year than normal, why there should have been no reason for the exodus, if not being part of the normal life cycle of the bees.

They have been calling for some time now, but are always difficult to find, and I have had difficulties deciding whether these first "Quarks" have belonged to the toad or to the also very common Edible Frog [Grøn Frø]. So here finally the prove that it is the toad calling. The horizontally squezzed pupil is characteristic of the toad.

Pollen on the hind legs indicates sex as does the hair color where males are grayish whitish. The red brown hairs on the thorax darker than the hairs on the abdomen is good for the species compared to A. apicata [Stor Pilejordbi], as is the long antennas compared to hover flies for example. Slowly learning. Just a single seen.
