Cabo Corrientes Lighthouse 2017-09-12 Faro de Cabo Corrientes (jal), Mexico
A visit, or a small expedition, to the lighthouse at the corner between the ocean and the bay. It has been out of service for several years, and there is nothing left of value. A local fisherman, Corrales, told me that THEY had been here long ago stealing what was worth stealing. Apparently also the camera because I didn't see any..! But it's a fascinating place, and you can read more about the visit under my 5 Chickens from 2017-09-13. From the last photos I hope it is perceivable that it was very HOT. |

The fishermen often work like this wading through the shallow water of the lagoon, even though there are crocodiles. Käthe Wessels 2023-11-06 Amager Strandpark, Denmark
An October 20th eastern storm that raised the Baltic waters to such levels that her anker couldn't hold her, and she moved east only to be stranded near the beach. The cormorants indifferent of course, but the photographer content with a nicer perspective. It's still there a month later, the owner waiting for the right conditions to be able to pull her loose and out to her former position 400 meters off shore. Apparently it is difficult to find a permanent berth for her, why she is stuck in international waters. Because of the narrow strait between Denmark and Sweden the usual territorial ocean border of the two countries have been minimized dramatically allowing the heavy traffic commuting to and from the Baltic region without having to pass through eventually hostile waters...good for you Russia - today. |

Parque Ecológio La Campana 2012-05-22 Parque La Campana (Colima), Mexico
1 - A characterless scrubland but home to many birds, especially during the winter months. 2 - Water tank. 3 - Someone is using the area to feed his cows and horses. A practice that will continue after the park becomes official? 4 - The water flows well from the tank. 5 - It doesn't look much but this green patch and the surroundings below the water tank has proven very good for buntings and sparrows. 6 - Below the water tank. 7 - Dry seed pod from the Guamuchil tree which is very common in the area and very popular among the birds. 8 - The nature type is dry thorn forest! 9 - A young Parota, Elephant-ear, Here with two broken branches which is a problem. The local people are collecting firewood in the area with the result that many smaller tree have already been cut down. It is therefore important to adquire the area soon before more damage is done. 10 - La Campana is the name of the ruins lying at the edge of the area, and as you can percibe there are ruins inside the area that have still not been excavated. What will be the future of these ruins when the area will become a natural park? 11 - Beautiful tree! 12 - Here in May before the rain sets in the vegetation is very dry 13 - Cattle fence as you see them in Mexico. Here with a very narrow opening making it a problem for large people to join the party. 14 - A flame colored jewel among dry spring ruins. Name? |
