Fandens Hul 2022-06-18 Teglstrup Hegn, Sjælland, Denmark An extraordinary place. An overgrown forest lake or bog with floating vegetation around the water opening. Acid water makes it an interesting habitat for several plants and especially dragonflies. This is the only place in Denmark to find the declining Sedgling, a small damselfly. |

Forest fires in Jalisco 2019-05-10 Cd. Guzmán, Jalisco, Mexico The landscape is very dry now, and spontaneous or intended fires are emerging in many places, as here on the volcano Nevado de Colima and adjacent hills. Most are away from human activities, and are probably left to die out by natural causes. The smoke effect, however, is substantial and schools and the university in Cd. Guzm |

Chacala landscape, El Tuito 2017-09-17 Close to Chacala, Cabo Corrientes, Mexico The whole area west of the El Tuito highway from Puerto Vallarta southward is one big locality consisting of green hills - thorn forest, low jungle vegetation. Much is still intact due to the difficult terrain, but there are also many open parties where micro farming, especially cattle, has taken over. However, birding wise there is undoubtedly much to discover still in this precious region. |

Volcán de Fuego 2012-02-10 Colima city, Col, Mexico It didn't stay for long. Less than a day. Through the mangrove 2012-05-19 Estero Palo Verde - Tortugario, Cuyutlán, Colima (col), Mexico Mangrove scenario. The boardwalk through the mangrove leading to the observation spot. At this place the white mangrove is more common than the red which has the classic mangrove roots. The white looks more like normal trees with one solid trunk, and that is because it normally lives at a higher elevation than the other types of mangrove, and therefore do not need to protect itself from salt water and tidal flooding. |

Estero Palo Verde 2012-05-19 Estero Palo Verde - Tortugario, Cuyutlán, Colima (col), Mexico The fishermen often work like this wading through the shallow water of the lagoon, even though there are crocodiles. The American Crocodile can reach a length of about 5-6 meters, and even though individuals that big are rare they do exist, I expect? I have to ask what goes on in their heads. Hopefully before a croc finds out the fleshy way... |

Parque Ecológio La Campana 2012-05-22 Parque Ecológico La Campana, Colima, Col, Mexico 1 - A characterless scrubland but home to many birds, especially during the winter months. 2 - Water tank. 3 - Someone is using the area to feed his cows and horses. A practice that will continue after the park becomes official? 4 - The water flows well from the tank. 5 - It doesn't look much but this green patch and the surroundings below the water tank has proven very good for buntings and sparrows. 6 - Below the water tank. 7 - Dry seed pod from the Guamuchil tree which is very common in the area and very popular among the birds. 8 - The nature type is dry thorn forest! 9 - A young Parota, Elephant-ear, Here with two broken branches which is a problem. The local people are collecting firewood in the area with the result that many smaller tree have already been cut down. It is therefore important to adquire the area soon before more damage is done. 10 - La Campana is the name of the ruins lying at the edge of the area, and as you can percibe there are ruins inside the area that have still not been excavated. What will be the future of these ruins when the area will become a natural park? 11 - Beautiful tree! 12 - Here in May before the rain sets in the vegetation is very dry 13 - Cattle fence as you see them in Mexico. Here with a very narrow opening making it a problem for large people to join the party. 14 - A flame colored jewel among dry spring ruins. Name? |
