2009-04-27 Isla Cozumel, Mexico Its status is defined as vulnerable, but you see it frequently in the south of Mexico and along the west coast. Most often I have seen individuals up to 2-3 meters, but the biggest can measure some 5-6 meters. The young eats insects and other small prey, while the adults don't refuse a tasty and juicy cow or ditto spirited youngster! |

2012-04-21 Estero Palo Verde (El Tortugario - col), Mexico I expect that it is this species, though the cocodrile sanctuary at Alcazahue some 20 km from here are housing the Mexican species Crocodylus moreletii which in the wild only lives along the eastern coast of Mexico and Yucatan peninsula. |

2012-05-19 Estero Palo Verde (El Tortugario - col), Mexico Small crocodiles use to hang out at the end of the pier when we arrive in the morning. This one is about a meter and a half. |

2014-02-22 Valle de las Garzas (Manzanillo), Mexico Most crocs are small, but this one was a number bigger than usual, so when it slid into the water, after a long time just lying there soaking up the sun (and spotting me out!), and started to float in my direction, I decided to move back from the edge of the channel, until I was sure that the beast had something else in mind! |
