Smaller than Græsrandøje (Maniola jurtina) and the darker brownish spots bordered pale down through the middle of the wing, are characteristic.

The two are found in the same area, but Okkergul preferring grounds with shorter vegetation.

Different animals. Making an effort to try to get the upperside of the species. But the small size and the fast erratic movements they make is challenging, to say the least.

The sexes are similar and the dark spot on the forewing apparently variable in size.
