Hook-billed Kite (Chondrohierax uncinatus uncinatus) Papegøjebaza ~ Gavilán Pico de Gancho 2012-03-08 Suchitlán, Colima (Col), Mexico Adult female. A such because of the orange neck and nape, unstreaked wing coverts and rather broad black tail bands. |

Hook-billed Kite (Chondrohierax uncinatus uncinatus) Papegøjebaza ~ Gavilán Pico de Gancho 2017-03-25 Camino Bioto, Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco (Jal), Mexico 2cy bird with dark brown head and white nape. Can show both a streaked and an un-streaked breast. This one has the latter. 4 dark bands on the tail separate it from the adults which have 2. The protruding bill and the paddle shaped wings should always make this species easily recognizable. |
