Male. When Fork-tailed Emerald was split the birds in the eastern part of the mainland became to this species, the birds on Cozumel to Cozumel Emerald, the birds in the western mainland to Golden-crowned Emerald all in the very south and outside of Mexico the form Salvin's Emerald is widespread. They are best separated by distribution and the tail length of the males. |
