Eurasian Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus ) Spurvehøg ~ Gavilán Común ~ Sparvhök 2023-03-28 Vinkelhuse (Tårnby), Denmark ♂. It might be a young adult male only with rufous tinting in the face. Not sure if the rufous patch along the armpit in photo 3 is an artifact or a plumage feature. I've seen it before, briefly, in a split-second chasing after one of the small birds that come to feed here, but it's the first time I see it perching on the balcony. What an honor! Meta! A magnificent creature. How it will affect the other birds will be interesting to see. If it gets a habit of hunting here, I'm sure they will disappear and the tits most certainly wont try to breed in our nesting box. Vinkelhuse |
