Adult. Male. Calling it an adult male, but not sure if it shouldn't have red colors in the head, then? Or maybe that is only for birds in breeding conditions?

Adult male with the powerful crest which the female lacks. Impressive birds and very fascinating to get so close up here at 3 kilometers altitude at the ski resort Valle Nevado an hour's drive from Santiago. This one is sitting on top of one of the hotels, waiting...
Notice the strong but rather blunt talons which is normal for species that do not use their feet to catch their prey - they're scavengers.
