Subspecies: brachydactyla Heard singing so id is clear. Here with an unusually long hindclaw, but dirty flanks and white throat contrasting with grayish breast are good indications of this species. Here the bill is seen from another angle, and looks long, as well as the eyebrow looking diffuse in front of the eye, which are indications of this species. Another field mark is complete white outer border to the largest alula feather which is seen here. The bright staircase of the wing lacks a well-marked step in the middle - also good for Short-toed. |

Subspecies: brachydactyla Dark shafts on central rectrices, same color as webs. Whitish spots to the tip of the visible primaries are compact without extending along edges. Distances between P6, P7 and P8 are equal. P6 is the outmost point of the visible part of the wing. |

Subspecies: [brachydactyla] The first of two birds I found today in the forest. This one by the Collin-stone in the eastern department. See 3500 for comments and photos for comparison. This one I discoverd when it was calling the distinct sharp call, different from the lisping call of the Common Treecreeper. It stayed around for a while but eventually disappeared, apparently, when a Common Treecreeper started to sing. Rare |

Subspecies: [brachydactyla] The rare of the two treecreepers on Amager. My first documented (second this day). Separated first of all by voice if heard, but visually best reliable field marks are: The even spacing between the visible primary tips 4, 5 and 6. The white edge to the alula. The darker, not so protruding tail shafts. The combination of the dusky flanks, grayish breast and whitish throat. The poor eyebrow in front of the eye. The long bill. The short hind-claw. The so-called 'latter' on the wing is more evenly spaced than on Common Treecreeper, though very variable the two between. There is considerable overlap between the two species why as many field marks, and preferably the voice too should be noted. I think all mentioned are visible to a varying degree and feel absolutely confident to call it of this species. This bird was not very vocal. Maybe I heard it sing vaguely once and only calling a few times, the sharper distinct and pointed note compared to the lisping note of Common Treecreeper. I saw in the SW-department of the forest. Another was present today too, 3501, in the eastern department close to the Collin-stone along the main road. Rare |

Subspecies: brachydactyla Discovered by the call at the usual spot in klsv. Later it sang shortly once, but then flew away when a Eurasian Treecreeper started to sing and behave... The white edge to the alula is here, as is the three-colored underside starting with the warm dirty flank, the grayish breast and the contrasting white throat. And the primary formular with two wide spaces between the outer two visible tips shows well, as does the long bill and not so marked eyebrow. |

♂. I've noted one singing from this day, and it must be this bird, though it looks rather short-billed and the alula (if that is the one visible in photo 1) does not have the white outer margin. Short hind-toe and distribution of primaries, however, support STTR well. |

Was singing spontaneously and reacted strongly to playback before flying over the road, where it apparently bumped into another treecreeper of unknown origin and then flew further away in between the trees. The well-spaces primaries and the white outer edge of the alula supports the identification. I've only had this one bird here in the forest this year. Their discrete behavior is strange since they appear to more active now in other places away from Amager. |

Adult. ♂. Found it by song in the SV department close to the main east-west road, Collin's Alle. And eagerly so singing, which was a surprise because the species has been difficult to find in Kongelunden this year. However, it happened in the afternoon with good sunlight at around 1730, why I would like to speculate that this species might have a different rhythm, making it more active later in the day. I say this because birds in Copenhagen, for example, have been singing readily for a long time this spring. Best field mark in these photos is the white-edged alula. The primary separation does look like something in between Eurasian and Short-toed, but is probably within the normal range for Short-toed, because I have seen it before with limited space between the three inner visible primary tips. Yes I did play the bird a song to attract it, because it was moving away before I got usable photos..! |

Discovered by the sound, calling. I've had a single treecreeper here some days ago, but didn't focus much on it because it moved away. Today was different and I managed to document this bird which is my first in Tårnby Kommune and the first one on Amager away from Kongelunden. |

Kirkelunden. Not easy to determine on site, but the photos show two different birds, perhaps a pair. The spacing between the primary tips, the levelled-out latter on the wing coverts, the short hind-claw, the longish bill, the vague eyebrow and the whitish throat in contrast to darker underside all indicate this species. The best field mark, the white-edged alula-feather unfortunately doesn't show on my photos. But I discovered one of the birds by sound, calling, probably 4718, and then while trying to find it, this other bird showed up. This is the first record in Dragør away from Kongelunden, according to dofbasen.dk. |

Kirkelunden. Together with 4717. The spacing between the primary tips, the levelled-out latter on the wing coverts, the short hind-claw, the longish bill, the vague eyebrow and the whitish throat in contrast to darker underside all indicate this species. And on photo 3 I'm sure the white alula-edge is just visible. The most noticeable difference between the two birds is that 4717 shows three well-marked tertials on the right wing, whereas 4718 only shows two fresh with the underlying feathers worn. |

♂. A rather classic bird, though the spacing between the visible primaries is not as clear-cut as it can be for the species - with more spacing between them. Was singing too. |

Kirkelunden. Engvej. Perhaps the same as 5466. Called fine as a STTR but looking at the alula, it doesn't look classic, lacking the unbroken white outer edge down the the white tip spot. But all the other field marks are there: well-spaced primary tips, dusky flank, short hind-claw, contrasting white throat and long bill. I go with variation over hybrid, but who knows what are facts in these matters, where both certhia species are present. |

Høgsbrovej near the ponds. A new spot for the species, confirming its expansion on the island. Was calling with the clear tiit calls, separate and various times. |
