Subspecies: pacificus Rather common but difficult to get good photos. This is my best shot until now. The long bright and hooked bill plus the bright orange rump reveal the species. |

Subspecies: flammulatus Adults have bright eyes and the juveniles brown, otherwise the plumages are much the same. But this bird is rather difficult to judge because the eye in photo 1 looks brown, and more realistisc, but in photo 2 it looks bright milky orange, but this could be because of overexposure. |
