Great Shrike-Tyrant can also be found here, though normally occupying lower altitudes, but is paler with buff-colored undertail. |

Subspecies: maritimus One of the many discretely looking birds in the alpine region near Santiago. This subspecies has white tips to central rectrices and more black in the basis of the tail, compared to others. But is also the only one present in this part of Chile. Great Shrike-Tyrant can also be found here, though normally occupying lower altitudes, but is paler with buff-colored undertail. On my trip I only found the species near the hotels at this site.
